Panda’s 4.0 update is friend or foe? You decide

In a yet another smashy update Google’s Matt Cutts confirmed Panda 4.0 release, on Twitter. This is an entirely new Panda algorithm which affects 7.5% of spammy queries. This update is not related to Penguin in anyway. Release over the weekend it targets spammy English content which even a normal user might notice.

Though, initially Google did not acknowledge of any confirmation of Panda’s update but the rather shaken results of some websites, have a different story to tell.

Panda 4.0 Hit & Loss!

As per a published list of websites hit by the Panda 4.0 update; as a surprise, the top winners are glassdoor.com, emedicinehealth.com and medterms.com. While, the top losers have been ask.com, ebay.com and biography.com websites. What exactly went wrong is hard to say, at this point. The best way to analyse if you Panda 4.0 update has been a hit or miss for your website is to check your site’s traffic via Google.

Panda 4.0 is a relatively fresh update as it has arrived after a very long time. Google last released Panda update in Jan, 2013. This could be one of the reasons why it has created quite a stir in SEO circles. Besides, the good news is that the new update may not be as harsh on websites as the previous ones. Let’s hope Google is willing to release comparatively softer future Panda algorithms.
